    Joint Agreement on HEBUT Finland Campus Signed

    On December 7th, the signing ceremony for the joint construction of HEBUT Finland Campus by HEBUT, Lappeenranta University of Technology(LUT) and Lahti University for Applied Sciences (LUAS) was held on Hongqiao Campus. Prof. Han Xu, president of HEBUT, and Prof. Juha-Matti Saksa, president of LUT, signed the cooperation agreement. 

    Prof. Ma Guowei, vice president of HEBUT, made a brief introduction to this program. HEBUT Finland Campus will start global undergraduate enrollment first, with postgraduate enrollment to follow up. Meanwhile, enterprise training will be conducted at the same time. The undergraduate programs will cover Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and Technology, and Energy and Environmental Engineering among which the first two will be set up at LUT and the latter two at LUAS. Students who meet the graduation requirements will receive an undergraduate graduation certificate and a bachelor’s degree from HEBUT as well as a bachelor’s degree from LUA or LUAS. In addition, LUAS signed a strategic cooperation agreement with HEBUT Langfang Campus and an cooperation agreement on training industrial design talents with the School of Architecture and Art Design.

    Li Qiang and Han Xu extended their warm welcome to leaders from provincial department of education and Finnish guests. They believe that the joint program will be considerably successful.

    Dr. Juha-Matti Saksa stressed that these two industrial universities share similar values on innovation and talents training and will achieve win-win results in the following cooperation.

    Hou Jianguo, vice inspector of provincial Department of Education said that LUT and LUAS both boast high social prestige and education strength, and HEBUT is the only key university in Hebei Province selected for “Project 211” and “First-Class Discipline” construction. The collaboration among the three universities will present a broader prospect.

    During their visit, Finnish guests visited HEBUT history museum, the national key laboratory in the School of Electrical Engineering, the new library and 3D-printed concrete Zhaozhou Bridge. In their visit to Langfang Campus, Finnish guests met with Langfan government officials, exchanging their views on strengthening cooperation in the fields of education, culture, economy and trade.
